LEGAL DISCLAIMER
Last updated: 2 September 2026
Please read this page before you purchase or use a document from EurekaLegal ("we", "us", "our").
We Are Not a Law Firm
EurekaLegal is a self-serve document template platform. We are not a law firm, we do not employ your lawyer, and no one at EurekaLegal is providing you with legal advice — whether you interact with the Site, our support team, or any content on it.
No Solicitor-Client Relationship
Using the Site, completing a questionnaire, or purchasing a document or Membership does not create a solicitor-client relationship between you and EurekaLegal, or between you and any individual associated with EurekaLegal. That relationship carries specific legal protections — including confidentiality and professional obligations owed personally to you — that only arise when you formally engage a practising solicitor. None of those protections apply to your use of this Site.
Unlimited Access Doesn't Mean Personalised Advice
If you have a Membership, you can generate documents from your chosen Templates as many times as you like. That doesn't change what the service actually is. Unlimited access means unlimited use of the same general, standardised drafting — it doesn't mean the documents become tailored to your specific circumstances, and it doesn't turn EurekaLegal into a source of legal advice. Treat each document you generate under a Membership with the same care you'd apply to a single one-time purchase.
General Information and Self-Help Documents Only
Everything on the Site — the Templates, the questionnaires, any guidance text, FAQs, or blog content — is general information about common legal document types. It is written to apply broadly, to a general audience, across a range of situations. It is not advice about your specific circumstances, and we have no knowledge of your individual situation beyond the answers you type into a questionnaire.
A Template that's a good fit for one person's situation may be the wrong document entirely for someone else's, even where the two situations look similar on the surface. Choosing the right document, and understanding what it does and doesn't cover, is your responsibility.
When You Should See a Lawyer Instead
Self-help documents work well for straightforward, common situations. We recommend speaking with a qualified Australian legal practitioner rather than relying on a Template alone if:
- you're already in a dispute, or think one is likely;
- there's a court deadline or filing involved;
- the matter involves a large sum of money, property, or an ongoing business relationship;
- you're unsure which document you need, or how a clause will apply to you;
- the other party has their own lawyer, or the matter is contested.
Most state Law Societies and Legal Aid offices offer referral services if you don't already have a lawyer.
We Don't Guarantee a Document Suits Your Situation
We design Templates to reflect commonly applicable Australian law at the time they're published or last reviewed, and to work for typical situations of the kind they're intended for. We do not warrant that a Template:
- is complete or appropriate for your specific facts;
- accounts for every exception, local variation, or industry-specific requirement that might apply to you;
- remains legally current at the time you use it, if time has passed since our last review.
Laws change, including at state and territory level, and a document that was accurate when published can become outdated. Where currency matters to you, check the relevant law yourself or ask a legal practitioner to confirm the document still reflects current requirements.
Jurisdictional Scope
Our Templates are drafted with Australian federal and state/territory law in mind. Laws differ between states and territories, and a Template drafted with one jurisdiction in mind may not be suitable in another without adjustment. If you're unsure which jurisdiction applies to your situation, or you operate across more than one, get specific advice before relying on a Document.
No Liability for Reliance on a Document
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, a Document, including where the Document was the wrong choice for your circumstances, was completed with inaccurate information, or was relied on after the underlying law changed. Nothing in this Disclaimer excludes any guarantee, right, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law — see clause 13 of our Terms and Conditions (/terms) for how that applies.
Third-Party and External Information
Where our Site references external sources, government websites, or third-party information, we do so for general context. We don't control that content and aren't responsible for its accuracy or currency.
